Meet Local Shop Owner - Jen Lofthouse

We're thrilled to spotlight Jen Lofthouse from Lofthouse Living — known for her keen eye for clothing and design and deep roots in the community. We’re sharing a bit about Jen, her inspiring shop, and how her insights and expertise helped shape our move over to Shopify.

Tell us a bit about your journey.

Lofthouse Living was always a quiet dream at first. Growing up in Winnipeg, the fashion industry felt far away and retail wasn’t on my radar. But at 21, I started a blog spotlighting local small businesses and everything changed - it made owning a shop feel possible, not just like a pipe dream.

I landed at Fanshawe College for Fashion Merchandising and later joined Saffron Road as a manager and buyer. Gaining hands-on experience, paired with my education, gave me the tools and confidence to open my own store.

My biggest lesson so far? If something excites your heart but makes your stomach do flips - say yes anyway. That’s where the magic happens.

How do you stay creatively inspired?

I stay creatively inspired by surrounding myself with beautiful design: whether it’s in fashion, interiors or architecture.

Street style is a go-to for sparking ideas; even when I feel stuck, a quick scroll can help me reimagine pieces I already own.

I’m drawn to a cohesive lifestyle: where outfits, spaces, and retail choices all reflect a consistent vibe. It doesn’t all have to match, but it should feel like you.

What made you excited about helping us move our Home Collection shop to Shopify?

Working with Shopify for my own business has made me comfortable with the platform and genuinely passionate about understanding how it can serve small businesses.

Helping Moffatt Grace Design transition to Shopify was such a treat! Our styles align so naturally that it felt like building for a kindred brand. I especially loved collaborating with another hardworking female entrepreneur; our shared vision, aesthetic, and goals made the whole process feel inspiring. It truly felt like working alongside a version of my own store.

Why do you think collaboration between businesses is so powerful?

The best partnerships happen when both sides bring ideas to the table, share the workload, and work toward a shared vision. When the energy, effort, and benefits are mutual, that alignment can lead to something truly impactful!

In a tight-knit community like London, Ontario, collaborating with local creatives has been one of the most effective ways I’ve been able to reach new audiences.

It works especially well when our customer bases share similar interests and aesthetics making the partnership feel natural and mutually beneficial.

We collaborated with Jen to showcase some our products together.
